What is the classification system for diabetic foot?
Clinically, diabetic foot is classified into five grades:
Grade 0: No wound present;
Grade 1: Presence of a wound, but no ulceration or infection;
Grade 2: Mild ulceration accompanied by soft-tissue inflammation, without infection;
Grade 3: Deep ulceration with abscess formation and infection;
Grade 4: Severe infection with focal gangrene;
Grade 5: Extensive (whole-foot) gangrene.
Clinically, diabetic foot is classified into five grades. Grade 0 indicates no wound but the presence of high-risk factors. Grade 1 involves a wound without ulceration or infection. Grade 2 features mild ulceration accompanied by soft-tissue inflammation, but without abscess formation or infection. Grade 3 denotes deep ulceration with associated abscess and infection. Grade 4 involves severe infection along with focal gangrene. Grade 5 represents extensive (or total) gangrene.
