Does Yellow Urine After Taking B-Complex Vitamins Indicate Non-Deficiency?

Yellow discoloration of urine following B-complex vitamin intake is a relatively common and normal phenomenon—and does not necessarily indicate that an individual is not deficient in vitamin B. This color change occurs because excess B vitamins—particularly riboflavin (vitamin B2)—are water-soluble and excreted via the urine. However, unless clinically indicated for treating a specific deficiency-related condition, long-term supplementation with B-complex vitamins is generally not recommended. For instance, vitamin B2 is used therapeutically for skin conditions such as ulceration and hyperkeratosis. Nevertheless, unless a vitamin B deficiency has been medically confirmed, self-administration of such supplements is discouraged, as excessive intake may lead to vitamin toxicity.
