What is the best treatment for molluscum contagiosum?

Molluscum contagiosum, commonly known as “water warts,” is a contagious viral skin infection transmitted through direct contact. During or after treatment, patients should avoid skin-to-skin contact with healthy individuals as much as possible. Treatment methods include curettage using a specialized molluscum contagiosum curette—after proper disinfection, the lesion is gently scraped off. If the lesions are highly contagious or widely distributed, forceps may be used to remove them. If these approaches are ineffective, cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen may be employed.
