Introduction
In general, the time when conception is most likely to occur is during the ovulation period. In women with regular menstrual cycles (typically 28–30 days), ovulation usually occurs approximately 14 days before the onset of the next menstrual period. Therefore, having sexual intercourse during this window increases the likelihood of pregnancy. Additionally, during the ovulation period, vaginal discharge typically becomes colorless, transparent, and stretchy—resembling raw egg white.

Pregnancy generally refers to the physiological process from conception to delivery. Human gestation is divided into three stages: early pregnancy, mid-pregnancy, and late pregnancy. Appropriate prenatal care helps improve maternal health throughout pregnancy and includes measures such as increased folic acid intake, avoidance of harmful substances and alcohol, regular physical activity, and routine antenatal check-ups. So, during which days is conception most likely? Below, we address this question.

During Which Days Is Conception Most Likely?

Generally speaking, the period when conception is most likely is the ovulation period. In women with regular menstrual cycles (typically 28–30 days), ovulation usually occurs approximately 14 days before the onset of the next menstrual period. Sexual intercourse during these days increases the likelihood of conception. Additionally, during the ovulation period, vaginal discharge becomes colorless, transparent, and resembles egg white—or may appear stretchy like thin threads. The highest chance of conception occurs on the day when this stretchy discharge is most pronounced. Furthermore, intercourse on the day of ovulation itself is considered optimal. It is also advisable to avoid excessive psychological stress, maintain a balanced daily routine, stay in a positive mood, and engage regularly in physical exercise to strengthen immunity.

Knowledge Extension: What Are the Symptoms of Ovulation?

1. Lower Abdominal Pain

As a mature egg is released from the ovarian surface, it ruptures the follicular membrane surrounding it, causing mild discomfort or pain. Occasionally, light uterine bleeding may also occur. This is because the ovaries not only govern ovulation but also regulate female endocrine hormone secretion; thus, slight uterine bleeding often indicates that ovulation has just been completed.

2. Increased Vaginal Discharge

Prior to ovulation, vaginal secretions are typically scant, thick, and opaque. As ovulation approaches, discharge gradually increases in volume and becomes thin and milky-white. During ovulation, discharge volume peaks and appears milky-white and stretchy; afterward, it gradually decreases. A reduction in discharge volume signals that ovulation has concluded.

3. Elevated Basal Body Temperature

In healthy, reproductively active women, a mature egg is released from the ovary each month. Basal body temperature follows a biphasic pattern: a lower-temperature phase before ovulation and a higher-temperature phase after ovulation. Pre-ovulatory temperatures typically range between 36.2°C and 36.5°C; post-ovulatory temperatures rise by 0.3–0.5°C due to increased progesterone secretion following ovulation.

The above outlines the days during which conception is most likely. We hope this information is helpful to you.
