Introduction
1. Tranexamic acid: used to manage bleeding during induced abortion and menorrhagia, as well as fibrinolytic bleeding caused by conditions such as placental abruption or fetal demise. 2. Yixue’an Granules: promote blood circulation while stopping bleeding and regulating Qi to relieve pain; indicated for prolonged postpartum lochia, incomplete bleeding following induced abortion, and uterine hemorrhage. 3. Baogong Zhixue Granules: indicated for menorrhagia resulting from yin deficiency with heat in the blood.

Among gynecological disorders, abnormal uterine bleeding is a common symptom associated with various conditions. Such bleeding can be harmful to women’s health; therefore, timely administration of hemostatic medications is essential to control it. So, which medications are most effective for gynecological hemostasis? Below is an overview.

Most Effective Hemostatic Medications for Gynecological Conditions

1. Tranexamic Acid

Tranexamic acid is indicated for bleeding following induced abortion and menorrhagia. It is also effective in treating fibrinolytic bleeding caused by placental abruption or intrauterine fetal demise. Adverse reactions may occur during treatment, including anorexia, nausea, vomiting, epigastric burning sensation, pruritus, or skin rash. If any of these adverse effects occur, discontinuation of the drug is recommended.

2. Yixue’an Granules

This traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation promotes blood circulation while stopping bleeding and regulates Qi to alleviate pain. It is indicated for prolonged postpartum lochia, incomplete uterine bleeding after induced abortion, and other forms of persistent uterine hemorrhage. It is particularly suitable for patients diagnosed in TCM as having blood stasis syndrome. Yixue’an granules help shorten bleeding duration and relieve lower abdominal pain. For endometrial bleeding, “Gongxuening” (Uterine Hemostatic Agent) is recommended, often combined with reproductive hormonal agents. For cervical bleeding, topical application of Yunnan Baiyao (Yunnan White Medicine) is generally sufficient. Thus, the choice of hemostatic agent depends on the specific type and underlying cause of uterine bleeding.

3. Baogong Zhixue Granules

These granules possess heat-clearing, yin-nourishing, hemostatic, and menstruation-regulating properties. They are especially effective for menorrhagia caused by yin deficiency with heat in the blood. Clinical manifestations such as heavy menstrual flow, prolonged menses, dark-colored menstrual blood, viscous consistency, or presence of small clots respond well to this treatment. Baogong Zhixue Granules are also appropriate for functional uterine bleeding and post-insertion bleeding following intrauterine device (IUD) placement—provided the aforementioned symptoms are present. Treatment typically begins on the first day of menstruation and continues for two consecutive menstrual cycles.

The above outlines the most effective hemostatic medications used in gynecology. We hope this information is helpful to you.
