Introduction
What to do about vaginal laxity: 1. Vaginal tightening exercises: Lie flat on your back and fully relax your body. While gently inserting a finger into the vagina, inhale and contract the pelvic floor muscles—this should produce a sensation of the finger being gently enveloped. Then relax and exhale normally. 2. Pharmacological treatment: Numerous medications are currently available in China for this condition, categorized into two types—topical (external) and oral (internal). 3. Massage therapy: Support your body with both hands placed behind you, and bend your left leg at the knee.

Vaginal laxity in women typically occurs postpartum, resulting from vaginal dilation during childbirth that fails to return to its pre-pregnancy state. Rehabilitation exercises—such as Kegel exercises, vaginal contraction training, leg lifts, and yoga—can be initiated approximately three months after delivery to promote vaginal tightening. Alternatively, pharmacological treatments or surgical repair may be considered. However, vaginal laxity tends to worsen with advancing age; therefore, women are advised to maintain regular physical exercise as part of routine self-care.

What Can Be Done for Vaginal Laxity?

1. Vaginal Contraction Training

Lie supine and fully relax your body. While gently inserting a finger into the vagina, inhale and consciously contract the pelvic floor muscles—this should produce a sensation of the finger being gently “wrapped” or “gripped.” Then exhale and release the contraction. Repeat this cycle several times, holding each contraction for approximately three seconds and relaxing for an equal duration. Consistent practice for at least six weeks generally yields noticeable improvement in vaginal tone.

2. Pharmacological Treatment

Numerous medications are currently available in China for managing vaginal laxity, categorized broadly into topical (vaginal) and oral formulations. Most over-the-counter topical products involve inserting medicated suppositories or gels into the vagina to achieve therapeutic effects.

3. Massage Therapy

Sit on the floor with both hands placed behind you for support. Bend your left knee and place your left foot flat on the ground; extend your right leg outward and rest it flat on the floor. Lift your hips upward while gently extending your left leg outward, slightly straightening it. Then lower your hips and relax before repeating the movement with your right leg. Alternate sides for five repetitions per leg.

4. Surgical Repair

Surgical intervention aims to correct vaginal wall prolapse and laxity by excising and reapproximating excess vaginal wall tissue, thereby reducing the vaginal diameter. This is currently one of the most rapid and effective approaches. However, as with any surgery, risks include bleeding, tissue injury, and scar formation. Sexual activity should generally be avoided for approximately three months following the procedure.

5. Laser Therapy

Laser therapy delivers controlled thermal energy to the vaginal mucosa, inducing rapid collagen contraction within the vaginal wall tissues. The heat-stimulated tissue undergoes remodeling, leading to structural tightening and reduction in vaginal diameter.

The above outlines common management strategies for vaginal laxity. We hope this information is helpful to you.
