How to manage night sweats in children
If a child is prone to spontaneous sweating (a TCM term referring to excessive, pathological sweating), the following approaches are recommended for regulation and management: 1. Replenish fluids and electrolytes—when a child experiences significant spontaneous sweating, substantial amounts of water and salt are lost; therefore, timely rehydration is essential. Encourage the child to drink plenty of warm boiled water to prevent dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Freshly squeezed fruit juices and vegetable soups are also beneficial, as they supply essential vitamins.

2. Dietary adjustment: Ensure a balanced diet with appropriate proportions of animal- and plant-based foods, and incorporate both refined and whole grains. Increase intake of protein-rich foods such as eggs, milk, and lean meat. 3. Correct picky eating or anorexic behaviors to strengthen the child’s constitution. 4. Encourage regular physical activity—aim for at least 30 minutes of outdoor exercise daily. 5. Treat any underlying medical condition causing the spontaneous sweating.
