How to Physically Reduce Fever in Children During Winter
Physical cooling methods for febrile children during winter include encouraging them to drink plenty of warm water, giving a warm-water bath, and gently wiping the child’s neck, armpits, groin, and palms and soles with warm water. Additionally, an ice pack may be placed under the pillow, and fever-reducing patches can be applied.

During winter, if ambient temperatures are low, first ensure the indoor temperature is raised and maintained at 20–22°C.
If the child experiences chills or feels cold during the early stage of illness, cover them with an appropriate number of blankets while encouraging frequent intake of warm water to help raise body temperature more rapidly. Oral antipyretics should be administered concurrently with physical cooling measures.

In general, when a child develops fever accompanied by chills or shivering, bacterial infection—often severe—is commonly suspected. A complete blood count (CBC) should be performed to confirm the diagnosis, and treatment should be directed toward the underlying cause.
