What Are the Medications for Heatstroke Prevention and Cooling?
The scorching summer heat easily leads to heatstroke. After suffering heatstroke, individuals often experience anxiety and physical discomfort. What medications are available for preventing and alleviating heat-related illnesses?
Common Medications for Heatstroke Prevention and Cooling
The most commonly used medications for heatstroke prevention and cooling during summer include Huoxiang Zhengqi Soft Capsules and Huoxiang Zhengqi Water. These are relatively inexpensive and also effective in treating common colds; thus, they are widely applied clinically. Fengyoujing (a traditional topical oil) possesses mild heat-clearing and detoxifying properties and is particularly effective for relieving headache and dizziness following heatstroke—applying it to the forehead or temples yields good results. Shisuidi (Ten-Drop Water) is primarily indicated for symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea caused by heatstroke. Additionally, tremella soup and mung bean soup both have heat-relieving and cooling effects. Herbal infusions made from honeysuckle, fuhai (a type of seaweed), and platycodon root can be consumed or used for bathing. When ambient temperatures soar, it is advisable to minimize outdoor activities; if going outside is unavoidable, wear a mask and hat, ensure indoor ventilation, reduce physical exertion, drink plenty of lightly salted water, maintain adequate sleep, and avoid overexertion.

Early signs of heatstroke include headache, dizziness, limb weakness, difficulty concentrating, and impaired motor coordination—all occurring in hot environments. Body temperature may remain normal or slightly elevated. Promptly move the individual to a cool, well-ventilated area and provide fluids and electrolytes (e.g., oral rehydration solutions). If symptoms resolve quickly, the condition is likely mild heat exhaustion. However, if symptoms persist or worsen, immediate medical intervention is required: transfer the patient to a cool, shaded location, loosen or remove restrictive clothing, and allow them to rest comfortably.

Additionally, apply cold compresses using ice packs or cold-water-soaked towels to the body surface to lower core temperature as rapidly and safely as possible—aiming to restore normal body temperature. We hope this information proves helpful.
