How Effective Are Xiaoyao Granules?
Xiaoyao Granules demonstrate relatively pronounced therapeutic effects. Their primary herbal ingredients include Bupleurum (Chai Hu), Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui), White Peony Root (Bai Shao), Stir-fried Atractylodes Macrocephala (Chao Bai Zhu), Poria (Fu Ling), Honey-processed Licorice Root (Zhi Gan Cao), Mint (Bo He), and Fresh Ginger (Sheng Jiang). Excipients include sucrose and dextrin. This formula functions to soothe the liver, strengthen the spleen, and nourish the blood. It is indicated for conditions arising from liver qi stagnation and spleen deficiency, such as depressive mood, discomfort or pain in the chest and hypochondriac regions, dizziness, vertigo, poor appetite, and menstrual irregularities.

Note: Xiaoyao Granules should not be used long-term, as prolonged use may impair liver or kidney function. Patients with serious chronic conditions—including hypertension, heart disease, liver disease, diabetes, or kidney disease—as well as children, elderly individuals, those with compromised physical health, pregnant or lactating women, and women experiencing heavy menstrual bleeding should consult a physician prior to use and take the medication strictly under medical supervision to avoid inappropriate self-medication.

During treatment, adequate rest is essential; overexertion should be avoided. Diet should remain light and bland; spicy or irritating foods should be avoided, as they may cause gastrointestinal discomfort and potentially reduce drug efficacy. Female patients who experience sudden onset of menstruation, abnormally heavy flow, prolonged periods, scanty or irregular vaginal bleeding should promptly seek medical evaluation to prevent disease progression and associated complications.
