Introduction
Pulmonary tumors refer to neoplasms arising in the lung parenchyma or interstitium and are classified as either primary or secondary. Generally, a solitary pulmonary tumor measuring 5 cm in diameter without lymph node metastasis indicates early-stage disease. Patients should consume light, nutritious, and easily digestible foods—such as bone soup, millet porridge, and steamed egg custard—and maintain regular sleep habits, going to bed early and rising early to ensure adequate rest.

A 5-cm pulmonary tumor alone cannot determine whether the cancer is in its early or advanced stage; staging must be based on a comprehensive clinical assessment. Specific considerations are as follows:

Pulmonary tumors refer to neoplasms arising from the lung parenchyma or interstitium and are classified as either primary or secondary. Generally, a solitary 5-cm pulmonary tumor without lymph node metastasis suggests an early-stage disease. If a 5-cm pulmonary tumor is accompanied by regional lymph node involvement, the disease is considered intermediate-stage. The presence of lymph node metastasis or distant metastasis indicates advanced-stage (i.e., stage IV) disease. Therefore, the stage of a 5-cm lung cancer cannot be determined solely by tumor size; definitive staging requires additional diagnostic evaluations such as chest X-ray, bronchoscopy, and other relevant imaging or pathological assessments.
