Introduction
In daily life, it is advisable to consume more fresh vegetables and fruits and drink plenty of water, which helps lower serum uric acid concentration and reduces the formation of uric acid stones while also decreasing calcium salt stone formation. Foods high in calcium—such as milk, cheese, and dried shrimp—should be limited. Acidic foods—including meat, poultry, and eggs—should be consumed more frequently to promote acidic urine, combined with abundant fluid intake. Additionally, dietary management should emphasize avoiding foods rich in oxalate.

In general, for patients with urinary tract stones, it is advisable to consume more fresh vegetables and fruits and drink plenty of water daily. This helps lower urinary uric acid concentration, thereby reducing the formation of uric acid stones and calcium-based stones. Foods high in calcium—such as milk, cheese, and dried shrimp—should be limited. Acidic foods—including meat, poultry, and eggs—should be emphasized to promote acidic urine, along with ample fluid intake.

Dietary management should also avoid foods rich in oxalate, such as celery, green garlic, onions, bamboo shoots, and various types of edible shoots. Oral supplementation with folic acid and pyridoxine (vitamin B6) may help prevent glycine conversion to oxalic acid.

Acidic foods—including poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs, cereals, and peanuts—should be consumed regularly. Since uric acid stones result from hyperuricemia, foods high in purines and uric acid—such as organ meats, concentrated meat broths, mushrooms, peas, asparagus, sardines, anchovies, and fish roe—must be strictly avoided.

For cystine stones, dietary methionine and acidic foods should be restricted, while alkaline foods should be increased to render the urine alkaline, along with generous fluid intake.
