What Impact Does Bone Marrow Donation Have on the Body?
Bone marrow donation has no adverse effect on a donor’s long-term health. Donors must meet specific eligibility criteria—including age, overall health status, physical examination results, body weight, and nutritional status—ensuring that the procedure poses no significant risk to their well-being. Generally, individuals beyond a certain age are not recommended as donors. Moreover, those with certain medical conditions or infectious diseases do not meet the eligibility requirements and therefore cannot be registered in the bone marrow donor registry.

Bone marrow donation—also known as hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) donation—is a prerequisite for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This transplantation is an effective and optimal treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other hematologic malignancies, and its clinical application continues to expand.
