What to Eat for Tonifying the Kidneys and Strengthening the Spleen
Many foods can strengthen the spleen and tonify the kidneys. In daily diet, one may consume Chinese chives, goji berries, deer antler velvet, and animal kidneys—these foods are rich in minerals and, once ingested, help enhance overall organ function, particularly kidney function, thereby achieving a kidney-tonifying effect.
Foods beneficial for strengthening the spleen include Chinese yam, eggs, cherries, jujubes (red dates), fox nuts (Euryale ferox seeds), lotus seeds, coix seed (Job’s tears), hyacinth beans, lily bulbs, and milk. These foods promote comfort and optimal functioning of the spleen and stomach. Spicy and irritating foods should be avoided.
However, if spleen-kidney deficiency is severe—or if symptoms such as diarrhea or coldness in the hands and feet occur—pharmacological treatment becomes necessary. Self-medication must be strictly avoided, as it may lead to adverse effects. Appropriate medication should only be prescribed following a thorough medical evaluation by a qualified physician.
Maintaining healthy lifestyle habits is equally essential. Chronic sleep deprivation and excessive masturbation, among other unhealthy behaviors, must be avoided. Such habits may exacerbate the condition and therefore warrant special attention.
