These malignant cells quickly infiltrate the bone marrow and other tissues, severely suppressing normal hematopoiesis. Ultimately, patients succumb to uncontrolled bleeding and infections. However, with appropriate treatment, approximately 80% of children and 30% of adults achieve long-term, disease-free survival—and potential cure.

Patients and their families should not become overly pessimistic. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is treatable—especially when diagnosed early and managed promptly. Immediate medical evaluation and treatment are essential upon noticing symptoms such as anemia, fever, or bleeding.
