Is leg-slimming injection effective?
With improvements in living standards, people today place increasing emphasis on personal appearance. Individuals with thick legs often consider injections as a method to achieve slimmer legs—so, are injectable leg-slimming treatments effective?
Are injectable leg-slimming treatments effective?
Yes, injectable leg-slimming treatments are effective. The substance injected is botulinum toxin—commonly known as “Botox for facial slimming.” Thus, this treatment, while frequently used for facial contouring, can also be applied to the legs. Importantly, it targets calf muscle—not calf fat. Generally, calf hypertrophy and perceived calf thickness are primarily attributable to muscular development. Upon strong calf contraction, a prominent bulge becomes visible; this bulge corresponds to one of the calf muscles—the gastrocnemius. Injecting botulinum toxin induces atrophy and reduction in the size of this muscle, thereby slimming the leg. Consequently, injectable leg-slimming treatments are indeed effective. What is the active ingredient? It is botulinum toxin. Currently, two commercially available botulinum toxin products are widely used: Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Hengli® (inbotulinumtoxinA). Both are clinically effective and safe.

Following the procedure, patients should wear compression garments for approximately two months, beginning within the first week post-treatment. During the later recovery phase, simple self-care measures—including gentle massage—may be performed.

Post-procedure, patients are advised to follow a high-protein, low-sugar, low-fat diet and ensure adequate rest to support optimal recovery. We hope this information has been helpful. Wishing you good health and a joyful life!
