Why Do Mouth Ulcers Keep Recurring?
Aphthous ulcers (canker sores) are a very common condition. Many patients develop small white spots inside the mouth, which often recur repeatedly. So why do aphthous ulcers keep recurring?
Why Do Aphthous Ulcers Keep Recurring?
Frequent, recurrent aphthous ulcers are typically diagnosed as recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS), a common ulcerative disorder in oral medicine with a high prevalence.

RAS has no age or gender restrictions and can affect individuals of any age or sex—children, adults, and the elderly alike. The frequency of outbreaks varies among patients: some experience three to four episodes per month, while others may have only one episode every two or three months. Topical medications—such as Kehoujian Spray (a traditional Chinese medicine spray for sore throat) or lidocaine gel—may be applied directly to the ulcer surface to promote healing. Alternatively, patients may rinse their mouths with Kangfuxin Liquid. During treatment, patients should strictly avoid spicy, hot, or otherwise irritating foods and instead follow a bland, mild diet.

The above medications should be used strictly under the guidance of a physician. If you experience any discomfort or abnormal symptoms, please seek medical evaluation promptly at a hospital and undergo appropriate management by a qualified healthcare professional.
