Glargine insulin can be stored at room temperature after opening; room temperature is generally considered to be between 4°C and 25°C. However, if unopened, glargine insulin should be refrigerated at approximately 4°C. Insulin must not be frozen, as freezing will reduce its potency and render it ineffective. Glargine insulin provides stable, long-lasting blood glucose control and is classified as a basal insulin.
