The earlier the infant undergoes surgery for coarctation of the aorta, the better. However, the timing of surgery primarily depends on the severity of the local lesion and the child’s ability to tolerate surgical trauma. Some degree of postoperative complications is inevitable with this procedure. We strongly recommend that you take your child to the cardiothoracic surgery department of a local Grade A, Class 3 hospital for evaluation and treatment.
