In healthy individuals, the normal respiratory rate is approximately 16–20 breaths per minute. An abnormally rapid respiratory rate (tachypnea) is commonly associated with conditions such as infection, anemia, or hyperthyroidism; bronchial asthma may also cause it. This condition often has a genetic component—potentially inherited—and may also be influenced by environmental factors. Patients should generally avoid exposure to common triggers such as cow’s milk, pollen, and seafood (e.g., fish and shellfish). During treatment, management typically includes anti-infective therapy, cough suppression, and bronchodilation.
