“Sharp costophrenic angles” indicates a normal thoracic cavity and suggests that the cough is not caused by tuberculous pleuritis. The costophrenic angle refers to the angle formed between the diaphragm and the ribs. Under normal conditions, this angle appears sharp on imaging. Blunting of the costophrenic angle is primarily due to pleural effusion or pleuritis. If sharp costophrenic angles are observed, anti-inflammatory medication may be prescribed under a physician’s guidance for treatment.
