Is it necessary to undress for a cardiac angiography procedure?
Disease description:
My grandfather has coronary heart disease, and his doctor has recommended a coronary angiography procedure. Does this procedure require removing clothing?
Cardiac angiography requires the patient to undress. Coronary angiography is a minimally invasive procedure primarily used for the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery atherosclerotic heart disease. During coronary angiography, if coronary artery occlusion is identified—and if the obstruction or stenosis occurs near the origin of a major vessel—coronary stent implantation may be further considered as a therapeutic option. Conversely, if angiography reveals that the occluded or stenotic segment is located distally, near the end of a less critical vessel, and the degree of stenosis is mild, conservative management may be appropriate.
