What disease is indicated by elevated CK-MB activity?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been experiencing discomfort in my chest and went to the hospital for evaluation. The test results showed elevated CK-MB activity. What condition does an increased CK-MB activity indicate?
Elevated CK-MB activity may indicate acute myocardial infarction. Increased CK-MB levels may occur alongside elevated troponin and myoglobin, suggesting myocardial infarction. However, CK-MB elevation can also be observed in patients undergoing cardiac resuscitation, those with cerebrovascular disease, or pulmonary disorders. Additionally, CK isoenzymes—including CK-MB—may rise in cases of skeletal muscle injury, following excessive alcohol consumption, or due to certain toxic substances or drug intoxications.
