I initially experienced mild cardiac discomfort but did not seek medical evaluation. I have now been diagnosed with premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). How should this be treated?

Premature cardiac contractions—primarily premature atrial contractions (PACs) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)—are common types of arrhythmia. Even healthy individuals may experience such premature beats, often triggered by factors like excessive fatigue or emotional stress; these are typically physiological (benign) in nature, occur infrequently, and do not impair cardiac function. It is advisable to consult a cardiologist for evaluation. Recommended diagnostic tests include ambulatory electrocardiography (Holter monitoring) and echocardiography to assess the underlying condition. If necessary, antiarrhythmic medications may be prescribed to control the premature beats.
