How should children with nephrotic syndrome take prednisone tablets?
Disease description:
My child was recently diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome during a routine physical examination. Could you please advise on the use of prednisone tablets for children with nephrotic syndrome?
A 7-year-old child with nephrotic syndrome can safely take prednisone tablets, and serious adverse effects are uncommon. In most cases, the therapeutic response is favorable. This condition in children is strongly associated with immune system dysregulation; therefore, corticosteroid therapy remains the primary treatment approach. Prednisone tablets are relatively mild in terms of systemic stimulation and are generally well-suited for pediatric patients. However, the specific dosage and regimen must be determined and closely supervised by a physician following an in-person clinical evaluation.
