What are the symptoms of mild facial paralysis?
Disease description:
A friend of mine recently underwent surgery, but I’ve noticed that his facial expression has changed slightly—he appears somewhat expressionless. What are the symptoms of mild facial paralysis?
This condition may result from surgical injury to the facial nerve. After facial nerve damage, patients may exhibit asymmetrical forehead wrinkles, diminished or absent forehead wrinkles, incomplete eyelid closure, flattened or absent nasolabial folds, inability to puff out the cheeks normally, and leakage of water during toothbrushing. Treatment may include medications that nourish the facial nerve to alleviate symptoms; acupuncture and massage therapy can also be used as adjunctive treatments.
