What Causes Kidney Pain in Pregnant Women?
Disease description:
I’ve been hospitalized these past few days due to pregnancy, but I’ve recently experienced some kidney pain. Could you please explain what might cause kidney pain in pregnant women?
Pain in the kidneys during pregnancy may indicate concomitant urolithiasis or urinary tract infection. It is currently recommended that the patient visit the obstetrics and gynecology department of a local hospital for a color Doppler ultrasound examination of the urinary system to confirm whether urolithiasis is present in pregnancy. If such conditions are confirmed, prompt pharmacological treatment is advised, using medications that are safe and pose no risk to the fetus. For pregnancies beyond seven months with large stones, surgical intervention may be considered.
