What Causes Poor Follicular Development?
Disease description:
My own follicles were found to be slightly underdeveloped upon examination. I would like to ask the doctor: What causes poor follicular development?
Hello, poor follicular development may be caused by pituitary disorders—such as a prolactinoma or hyperprolactinemia; premature ovarian insufficiency, characterized by scanty menstrual flow or even amenorrhea; or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), in which ovulation does not occur regularly each month. While multiple small follicles develop monthly in PCOS, they often fail to mature properly.
