Effects of Xuesaitong

Xuesaitong’s primary therapeutic effect is the improvement of cardiac function. Its main active ingredient is total saponins extracted from Panax notoginseng (Sanqi), which can dilate coronary and peripheral blood vessels, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance, slowing heart rate, decreasing myocardial oxygen consumption, increasing myocardial perfusion, and enhancing cerebral blood flow—thus exerting a beneficial effect on myocardial and cerebral ischemia. Additionally, Xuesaitong inhibits platelet aggregation and reduces blood viscosity, thereby lowering the risk of thrombosis. It also lowers blood lipid levels, alleviates fatigue, and enhances the body’s tolerance to ischemia and hypoxia.
