Disease description:

Hello, Doctor. Recently, I’ve frequently experienced lower back pain and poor sleep at night. However, I don’t have any other noticeable discomfort or abnormal symptoms in daily life. The day before yesterday, I visited the hospital for a check-up, and the results showed an elevated percentage of eosinophils. Could you please explain what an elevated eosinophil percentage means?

Dr. Xu Min
Eosinophils are a parameter measured in blood analysis. An increased percentage of eosinophils indicates a rise in the number of eosinophils in the bloodstream, which may suggest an allergic reaction—such as allergic rhinitis, allergic pharyngitis, allergic asthma, allergic skin disorders, or intestinal parasitic infection—leading to elevated eosinophil percentage and absolute eosinophil count. When eosinophil levels are elevated, the first step is to assess for symptoms including urticaria, allergic rhinitis, asthma, or intestinal parasitosis, and to perform relevant diagnostic tests and allergen screening.
