What should I do if my eosinophil count is elevated?

Disease description:

I’ve developed numerous hives over the past few days and went to the hospital for evaluation. All my other test results appear normal, except for one finding in the complete blood count (CBC): my eosinophil count is elevated. What does this indicate? What should I do about an elevated eosinophil count?

The patient has developed numerous hives (urticarial wheals) accompanied by elevated eosinophil count, which most commonly suggests mild cutaneous allergic reaction—likely triggered by exposure to an allergen. A possible association with seafood consumption cannot be ruled out. For definitive diagnosis, allergen testing at a hospital is recommended. In the meantime, antihistamines or other anti-allergic medications may be taken under medical supervision; specific drug selection and dosing should strictly follow physician instructions. Additionally, avoidance of identified allergens is strongly advised in the future.
