When is ovulation day?
Disease description:
I’m currently trying to conceive. A friend told me that having intercourse with my husband on the day of ovulation increases the chances of pregnancy. Could you please tell me when ovulation occurs?
A woman’s ovulation typically occurs approximately 14 days before the onset of her next menstrual period. For safety, the “fertile window” is defined as the 10-day period encompassing the 5 days preceding ovulation, the day of ovulation itself, and the 4 days following it. After ovulation, the egg remains viable for 1–2 days, while sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for 2–3 days. Sperm retain their fertilizing capacity primarily within the first 24 hours after ovulation; beyond 2–3 days, they lose the ability to fertilize the egg.
