Mycoplasma and Chlamydia are atypical pathogens, typically transmitted through sexual contact or cross-infection. Transmission may also occur via shared public toilet seats or shared personal hygiene and bathing items. In adults, Mycoplasma and Chlamydia primarily infect the urogenital tract, especially the mucosal surfaces, and do not enter the bloodstream to cause systemic infections. Following infection, patients may develop urinary abnormalities and urinary tract irritation symptoms.
