After undergoing an abortion, women may experience the following complications:
First, incomplete aspiration or inadequate removal of uterine contents during the procedure may leave residual tissue in the uterine cavity, necessitating a second surgical intervention—causing additional physical and emotional distress to the patient. Moreover, repeat surgery increases the risk of postoperative infection.
Second, poor personal hygiene following the procedure—or improper surgical technique—may lead to gynecological infections such as endometritis, potentially compromising future fertility.
