Doctor's answer (1)
Dr. Ding Feng
Levofloxacin tablets are antibiotics belonging to the quinolone class and are broad-spectrum antibiotics. They exhibit strong inhibitory activity against Enterobacteriaceae, Klebsiella species, Salmonella typhi, other Salmonella species, Shigella species, and Proteus species. They also demonstrate certain bactericidal activity against some Staphylococcus species, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Chlamydia species. Levofloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (a type of DNA topoisomerase), thereby suppressing bacterial DNA synthesis and replication. It is primarily used to treat upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
