What Causes Itching of the Testicles?

Testicular pruritus may occur due to fungal infection of the scrotal skin—for instance, tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) spreading to the scrotum—resulting in intense itching of the scrotal skin. It may also arise from eczema of the scrotal skin, which typically presents with pronounced pruritus; some patients may additionally develop vesicles and desquamation. Furthermore, testicular pruritus can result from trichomoniasis affecting the scrotal skin; when *Trichomonas vaginalis* infects the scrotal skin in males, it may cause testicular itching accompanied by localized vesicles and exudative changes.
