First-line drug for the treatment of chronic aplastic anemia
Disease description:
I’ve recently been experiencing persistent dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, and vivid dreams. After visiting the hospital, my doctor diagnosed me with chronic aplastic anemia. What is the first-line medication for treating chronic aplastic anemia?
Anemia has numerous causes, including iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia, aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), and malignancies, among others. Aplastic anemia results from bone marrow hypoplasia or failure; therefore, a bone marrow aspiration biopsy is required for definitive diagnosis, and this condition cannot be ruled out at present. Current treatment for aplastic anemia is primarily supportive and symptomatic; there is no first-line drug.
