What causes expiratory dyspnea?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve felt difficulty exhaling, with noticeably prolonged expiration. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, the doctor diagnosed this as expiratory dyspnea. I’d like to know what causes expiratory dyspnea.
Expiratory dyspnea may result from lesions affecting the bronchi and bronchioles, and may also be associated with alveolar pathology. Additionally, spasm or narrowing of the smallest airways can readily lead to this symptom. Moreover, patients with severe bronchiectasis or bronchial asthma may experience expiratory dyspnea of varying severity during acute exacerbations.
