What is the impact of a weakly positive rubella virus IgG antibody test on pregnancy?
Disease description:
Recently, I’ve been planning to get pregnant, but today’s hospital test showed that my rubella virus IgG antibody test came back weakly positive. What impact does this have on pregnancy?
A weakly positive rubella virus IgG antibody test result typically has no impact on pregnancy. A weakly positive IgG result usually indicates prior infection with the rubella virus and that the patient has developed protective antibodies. These antibodies generally do not adversely affect embryonic development; therefore, they do not interfere with pregnancy. During the preconception period, patients are advised to engage in appropriate physical exercise to strengthen their bodies and enhance immune function, which may improve fertility.
