What Should Be Done About Premature Graying of Hair in Children?
Disease description:
Over the past few days, while washing my child’s hair, I noticed that he/she has developed gray hair. I’d like to know what can be done about premature graying in children.
There are numerous potential causes of premature graying in children, and identifying the underlying cause is essential before initiating targeted treatment. In most cases, white hair in children results from deficiencies in specific nutrients. We recommend first taking your child to a hospital for testing—either hair or blood analysis—to assess trace element levels. Under a physician’s guidance, appropriate supplementation with B-complex vitamins and zinc may be advised. Additionally, it is important to adjust the child’s daily diet and lifestyle habits:
- Increase intake of foods rich in melanin-promoting nutrients, such as black sesame seeds and black rice;
- Ensure the child obtains sufficient, high-quality sleep.
