What Are the Potential Drawbacks of Hula Hooping?
Disease description:
I really enjoy hula hooping, but I’ve heard that doing it too frequently isn’t advisable. Are there any potential drawbacks to hula hooping?
Hula hooping is a relatively beneficial form of exercise; however, prolonged hula hooping may pose health risks. Primarily, it is an exercise that involves isolated waist movement, relying almost entirely on lumbar muscle force to keep the hoop rotating. Extended hula hooping can therefore place excessive strain on the lumbar region, potentially leading to lumbar injury. Moreover, excessive duration or frequency of hula hooping causes repetitive twisting of the spine, which may increase intraspinal pressure and consequently lead to vascular rupture within the spinal canal.
