What is the most common site of shoulder dislocation?
Disease description:
A friend dislocated their shoulder joint today and would like to know the most common site of shoulder joint dislocation.
Anterior dislocation is the most common type of shoulder joint dislocation. This is primarily due to the relative weakness of the anterior aspect of the joint capsule and the mechanism of traumatic force application. When force is applied to the elbow and shoulder joints, the bone tends to move anterolaterally toward the point of impact, resulting in anterior shoulder dislocation. Upon diagnosis of shoulder dislocation, radiographic imaging is required, followed by closed reduction to restore the shoulder joint to its normal anatomical position.
