What is periostitis of the tibia?
Disease description:
What is periostitis of the tibia, and what causes it?
Periostitis of the tibia is an orthopedic condition caused by sports-related injury, commonly seen in individuals with a history of excessive running or jumping. It manifests as pain along the shinbone (tibia); in severe cases, pain may persist even at rest or be accompanied by limping. Conservative treatment is typically effective: patients should rest and discontinue physical activity to prevent worsening inflammation. Local ice application, combined with ultra-short wave therapy, can promote deep anti-inflammatory effects and alleviate symptoms. In cases of severe inflammation, anti-inflammatory medications may be prescribed by a physician.
