What Causes Dry Stools and Rectal Bleeding?
Disease description:
I notice that my stool feels particularly dry when using the toilet, and there is also bleeding. What could be causing this?
Dry, hard stools with bleeding may be caused by hemorrhoids. In the case of internal hemorrhoids, patients may experience difficulty passing dry, hardened stools during defecation, leading to mucosal bleeding. Alternatively, this symptom may result from an anal fissure; when stools are especially dry, bleeding may be more pronounced and accompanied by a sharp, tearing pain in the anal region. Additionally, gastrointestinal bleeding—such as that arising from colorectal tumors or polyps—can also manifest as blood streaks in otherwise dry stools. Patients are advised to undergo electronic colonoscopy at a hospital to confirm the diagnosis.
