How long do I need to wear braces?
Disease description:
My teeth are misaligned, and I’m planning to get braces. I’d like to ask how long I’ll need to wear them.
Braces are typically worn for 2 to 4 years, a duration closely related to the patient’s age and the severity of malocclusion. In mild cases—where tooth misalignment is not particularly severe and relatively easy to correct—the treatment period is usually about two years. In adults, however, correction may be more challenging, often requiring a longer treatment duration of approximately four years. Before deciding to undergo orthodontic treatment with braces, patients should first visit the dental department of a hospital for a comprehensive oral examination, after which an appropriate corrective approach can be selected based on individual circumstances.
