Hello, elevated serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels are commonly observed in hepatobiliary diseases—for instance, liver injury, particularly in viral hepatitis. Chronic or recurrent infection can cause mild damage to hepatocytes, leading to increased ALT levels. Biliary system disorders—such as common bile duct stones and recurrent cholecystitis causing cholestasis—can also elevate transaminase levels. Additionally, certain medications may induce hepatic injury, and occasionally, intense, high-intensity physical exercise can result in elevated transaminases.
