What are the normal values for nuchal translucency (NT) examination?
Disease description:
I am currently about 10 weeks pregnant, and my friend recommended that I undergo an NT (nuchal translucency) scan. What is the normal range for the NT measurement?
Nuchal translucency (NT) screening is also one of the key prenatal examinations, typically performed between 11 and 13 weeks of gestation. The normal NT measurement is less than 2.5 mm. This test assesses the thickness of the nuchal translucency—the fluid-filled space at the back of the fetal neck—to help identify potential chromosomal abnormalities. If the NT measurement exceeds 2.5 mm, amniocentesis is recommended for further diagnostic evaluation.
