Is rhabdomyolysis syndrome severe?
Disease description:
I’ve recently been experiencing persistent muscle pain and generalized fatigue. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, I was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. How serious is this condition?
Rhabdomyolysis is a relatively severe condition that can result from various causes—such as excessive physical exertion, trauma, muscle compression, disturbances in water and electrolyte balance, or bacterial or viral infections—leading to skeletal muscle fiber rupture and myocyte breakdown.
Rhabdomyolysis significantly impacts the body; clinically, it primarily manifests as muscle weakness, pain, fever, and swelling, and may even progress to acute kidney injury.
