What are the early symptoms of polyneuritis?
Disease description:
I’ve felt some numbness in my limbs over the past two days, and my movements have been somewhat sluggish. After visiting the hospital for evaluation, the doctor diagnosed me with polyneuropathy. What are the early symptoms of polyneuropathy?
Patients with polyneuritis may experience early symptoms such as paresthesia—described as needle-like, burning, or crawling sensations—in both hands and feet. As the disease progresses, they may develop a “glove-and-stocking” pattern of sensory loss, characterized by numbness, thickening of the skin on the hands and feet, and diminished sensitivity to temperature or pain. In more severe cases, muscle atrophy of the hands and feet may occur, leading to weakness—such as difficulty grasping objects or impaired gait.
