Dr. Jiang Weimin
Mononucleosis is most commonly caused by infectious diseases—such as viral, pathogenic, or bacterial infections—and clinically presents with headache, fatigue, pharyngitis, and fever. It predominantly affects adolescents and children. Mononucleosis is a self-limiting disease; with appropriate symptomatic treatment, the prognosis is generally favorable. However, if hematologic disorders—such as leukemia—are suspected to be associated with infectious mononucleosis, further definitive diagnosis via bone marrow aspiration is required. Should such a diagnosis be confirmed, prompt and active treatment should be initiated.
